Otterburn complex needs care home in Birmingham specialises in supporting adults living with dementia, complex mental health needs and neuro-disabilities including Huntington’s disease and strokes.
Our Nurse-led team has the skills and expertise to support people with complex needs including prolonged disorders of consciousness and behaviours of concern, and those who require tracheostomies, ventilators and PEG feeding tubes.
We support people on their rehabilitation journey from hospital or living in a secure setting to community-based living. We also provide long term support for people living with degenerative or life-limiting illnesses.

Otterburn has 30 large bedrooms, each with an en-suite, across three units. The home has communal dining and living spaces, a TV lounge and a large accessible garden.

Otter Unit supports up to ten adults living with complex mental health needs who display behaviours of concern, including those with dementia.
- Fox Unit

Fox Unit supports up to ten adults living with physical health needs and physical disabilities. The Fox Team is trained to support those with Huntington’s disease and those who’ve had strokes.
- Squirrel Unit

Squirrel Unit supports up to ten adults living with complex health needs. The Squirrel Team is trained to care for people who have tracheostomies and/or use ventilators.
The home is close to local amenities and transport links so that people can maintain their community connections.

As a specialist care home, Otterburn has an excellent track record of supporting adults whose placements have previously failed. Our high staffing levels allow us to build trust and work at the pace of the individual, which leads to improved person-centred and longer-term outcomes.
Many of the people we support at Otterburn are deemed to display behaviours that are ‘too complex’ for mainstream nursing and residential care providers.
For many of our service users, we’re successful in achieving a significant reduction in behaviours of concern and use of observations within 12 weeks of stay.
