Community involvement

Independence and community involvement is positively embraced, meaning each person can feel like a central part of their community.

Community involvement

The people we support are encouraged to become valued and active members of their local community. And we’re proud to support a number of unique initiatives that enrich lives and empower individuals.

Inspired, developed and staffed by Exemplar Health Care service users at Quarryfields care home in Doncaster, The Platform is just one example of our innovative and inclusive approach to community involvement.

This is much more than a space for great coffee, conversation and home-made cake. The former sandwich shop has been completely transformed into a new educational facility for service users, staff and the public.

The Platform holds a series of pop-up shops, each running for 10 weeks at a time, providing the local community with a new venture – and service users with new skills, experiences and confidence.

Refreshments and sweet treats are always available. From barista training in how to make the perfect coffee, to budgeting, interior design, and training in health and safety and Food Hygiene, the Platform team have worked hard to develop all the skills they need for their new venture.

The Platform is open to the public as a venue to hire so if you are looking for somewhere to hold a meeting or an event please email Quarryfields at or fill in a booking form at

The Platform sign

We believe that we offer invaluable learning opportunities in a unique setting at The Platform so we are really enthusiastic about opening up our service to others from outside of Exemplar Health Care and making connections in the community.
