Residents from Doncaster learning disability service, Quarryfields have helped Doncaster Rovers player James Coppinger celebrate his 38th birthday in style.

James met some of the residents who volunteer at The Platform, who were invited down the club’s Cantley Park training ground to deliver a cake they had baked for the occasion

Rovers player, James, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who came down to help me celebrate my birthday, especially Becky who made the cake for me.

“The lads were all pleased to see everyone, and even happier when they got to try some of the cake afterwards – I can confirm it was delicious!”

Heather Johnson, the education facilitator at The Platform, said: “We are so pleased that we were able to present James with a birthday cake. Becky did a great job in making it and we were all so excited to give it to him.

“James and the team have been fantastic and we can’t thank them enough for taking the time to meet with us. We hope James and the team enjoy the cake. You’re always welcome to come and visit The Platform for a coffee.”

Becky who lives at Quarryfields, said: “I am really pleased with the cake and I am happy James likes it. It’s full of chocolate so I’m sure he will like it!”
