In June, Alex celebrated the 20th anniversary of Download Festival with friends.

The team at Havenmere supported Alex to plan her five-day trip, staying in the festival’s accessible campsite.

Health Care Assistant Sharon and Care Practitioner Amy accompanied her throughout, making sure she had the support she needed to enjoy the festival.

For Alex, Download is about much more than seeing her favourite bands.

It’s also an important opportunity to spend time with friends from across the UK, many of whom she only gets to see in person during the festival.

Alex said:

I go to Download Festival to see my friends, many of whom I only see for these five days as we all live in different parts of the UK, plus listening to all the amazing bands.”

If it wasn’t for the carers coming with me, I wouldn’t be able to go and have the amazing time I did. They looked after me so well and words can never explain how thankful I am.”

Held at Donington Park, Download Festival offers a range of accessibility facilities, including accessible viewing platforms, wheelchair-accessible toilets, ramped access, and charging points.

Looking back on her five days at the festival, Alex said:

I had the time of my life there. I felt I could leave all my worries at the door and have the best time seeing my friends, not over FaceTime.”
