St Andrew’s Court development progress for Autumn 2019 opening

1 July 2019

St Andrew’s Court

Our new home is on track to open in Autumn and we’re pleased to report on how the development is progressing.

The home is currently undergoing refurbishment, as we adapt the building from a 34-bed elderly care home to meet the requirements of new residents. This refurbishment will create 20 specially designed bedrooms with ensuite facilities, as well as updated kitchen facilities.

So far, several of the en-suites have been installed and mermaid boarded, with kitchenette base units also installed to the dining room. The managers’ and administration office have both been fitted with electrical and data sockets, as well as being fully plastered. An old kitchenette unit has been removed and replaced by a new barista area. Externally, foliage has been chopped back and paving has been put in place.

In addition, St Andrew’s Court will also benefit from Exemplar Health Care’s OneCare reablement service, a two bedroomed house adjoining the home, aimed at encouraging independent living in the community through rehabilitation and enabling activities. Developments of the OneCare facilities have included fitting kitchen base units that will be used by residents. Stripping, plastering and mis-coat has also been applied across the apartments in preparation for painting later in the year.

The home will provide specialist nursing care for adults with a range of complex nursing needs, including dementia, mental health conditions, brain injury, stroke and neuro-disabilities. Available roles include home manager, nurses, domestic staff and a skills facilitator and we’re encouraging local residents to apply for the roles via our Careers page.
