Exemplar host ‘Managing challenging behaviours in dementia – a different approach’ event

Birmingham based social care and NHS colleagues attended Exemplar Health Care’s Best Practice networking event, hosted by consultant Dr Ben Akande.

As well as networking with industry peers, attendees took part in an expert learning session with Dr Akande. He shared best practice and his innovating approaches to managing challenging behaviours often associated with complex dementia.

Dr. Akande specialises in treating individuals living with very challenging behaviours and working with them to develop new strategies to improve their lives. He is also Consultant Psychogeriatrician and Medical Director of John Munroe Group which specialises in managing patients with complex challenging behaviours caused by a range of psychiatric conditions. 

Dr. Akande is also Vice Chair of the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and leads on policy development and review for older adults within the college.
