Dr. Ben Akande, Consultant Psychogeriatrician, will share his best practice and innovative approaches to managing the challenging behaviours often associated with complex dementia. Dr. Akande specialises in treating individuals living with very challenging behaviours and working with them to develop new strategies to improve their lives.

Dr. Akande

Dr. Akande is a Consultant Psychogeriatrician and Medical Director of John Munroe Group – which specialises in managing patients with complex challenging behaviours caused by a range of psychiatric conditions. 

He is also Vice Chair of the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and leads on policy development and review for older adults within the College. 

After completing his Psychiatric training in Manchester, Dr. Akande has worked within the NHS and independent sector as a consultant since 2003, working across inpatient, liaison and community settings. He has a special interest in systems management and managing challenging behaviours.
