A Kirkdale nursing home which provides care for adults living with very complex disabilities has been rated as Good in all areas by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – which highlighted the home’s strong leadership and proactive and compassionate team.
The CQC commended the progress Kavanagh Place has made since its last inspection, commenting on the improvements at the home and the caring staff who are skilled in supporting residents whilst also encouraging people to develop their independence.
As well as commending the Rumney Road home for its compassionate, dignified care, the CQC praised the strong leadership team led by Registered Home Manager, Mark Banks.
Mark said: “I am very proud of the Kavanagh Place team who work so hard every day to provide outstanding care to our residents. The CQC inspection was a rewarding experience as the team were able to share the many great things which happen at our home every day.
“Being rated good in every category demonstrates the commitment and passion of the Kavanagh team, and we will use the report as a stepping stone to even greater achievements.”
The Kirkdale service was also praised for its skills and resources in caring for individuals with dementia, using memory boxes – containing special, personal items – clear signage and differently contrasting walls and doors, all which help people to cope with the symptoms of the condition.
Family members said, “We are delighted with the care my relative receives” and “The care is excellent.”
