Greenside Court raise £4,000 thanks to their Summer Fayre!
Rotherham care home Greenside Court recently held a summer fayre for service users, families and the public which saw them raise their service user fund total to an impressive £4,000!
The fayre was organised by service users and staff at Greenside Court in the hopes to engage more with their local community and to raise money for their service user fund. With just over £200 raised on the day, the event was a huge success.
Service users hosted a variety of games including hook a duck, guess the bottle and even a raffle. The Rotherham town brass brand came along on the day to provide beautiful music for all to enjoy.
Neighbours of the home paid a visit and had a dance to the music and surprise visitors from the local community centre and passers-by also popped in for the afternoon and commented on how brilliant the fayre was.
Activities Coordinator at Greenside Court, Rachel, said: “We have never had as much involvement with the local community as this and it is great because most of our service users are local to this area.
“It was great to have such a big turnout and raise the money we did. All service users involved had a brilliant time, and the beautiful sunshine just added to everyone’s spirits. I can’t wait to organise the next event now and see if we can generate the same community involvement.”
Greenside Court have successfully raised an impressive £4,000 so far towards their service user fund.
Greenside’s Home Manager Kim Payne has a fair few ideas for the home including an overhaul of the sensory room and the garden area.
Sensory rooms and gardens can help to develop an individual’s senses through lighting, sound, objects and scent. For those with dementia, learning and neuro disabilities, sensory impairments and even mental health conditions, the sensory space can stimulate senses and bring back memories which may provide comfort, improve behaviour or encourage movement in some way.
They provide a safe way for individuals with complex disabilities to interact with their surroundings, and develop trusting relationships with support workers.
Nurse-led, specialist care home Greenside Court provides support to individuals with very complex needs such as neuro-disabilities and mental ill-health.
