Telling stories at Maypole Grove in Birmingham

Storytelling week takes place every year for people across the country to share their story. Taking place in pubs, clubs, libraries and care homes, everybody has a story they can tell – from fairy-tales to life stories and folk tales.

Maypole Grove
, Exemplar’s Birmingham based nurse-led care home, visited Kings Heath Kitchen Garden Café, where service users listened to a variety of stories. Peter and George Chand shared Indian folktales and stories, captivating service users Claire and Patrick. Staff noticed that the stories grabbed Claire and Patrick’s attention for quite a while.Storytelling week celebrates the freedom we have to communicate and express our stories, our thoughts and listen to those of others.

This week, Irish folktales, fairy-tales and stories will be shared; and Maypole Grove is joining in again. The organisers have even promised to send poetry, audiobooks and information on other storytelling events to the team at Maypole, so all service users can be involved.
