Time to celebrate for award-winning Exemplar staff

Three Exemplar Health Care staff are celebrating their wins at the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Great British Care Awards.

Exemplar Health Care had many worthy nominees across various categories from the North West, the Midlands and Yorkshire. At the regional Yorkshire and Humber Awards last Friday night, we were delighted to see three winners:

  • Nurse Diane Jones, who won the Good Nurse Award
  • Nurse Katie Leonard, who won the Care Assessor Award
  • Service User Engagement Manager, Sophia Feurtado, who won the Dignity in Care Award.

This award is given to an individual who can demonstrate the significance of maximising client independence and choice, whilst respecting and maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.Sophia Feurtado, Dignity in Care:

In her short time at Exemplar, Sophia has demonstrated a strong commitment to transforming the lives of service users in her role as Service User Engagement Manager. She has already made an enormous contribution to way the organisation views dignity in care at all levels from board through to local services. Recent innovations already having a positive effect include the launched of a Service User Council which gives service users direct decision-making ability within Exemplar Health Care.

Katie Leonard, Care Assessor:

The Care Assessor Award is for the individual who can demonstrate how important initial assessments are, followed by agreed Care Plans, showing the individuals needs and choices of each service user.

Diane Jones, Good Nurse:Katie is a one of Exemplar’s most enthusiastic nurses, with a passion for selecting the right care pathway for serv

ice users and working with them to improve their quality of life. Her person centred assessments and further care planning is always completed to an exceptionally high standard. Katie works at Dearnevale in Barnsley.

This award acknowledges the important role that specialist nurses working in the Care Sector have in promoting the emotional,physical, psychological and social health of the people who they support.

Diane is a very special nurse who puts people first at every step of the way Along with being a fantastic clinically-minded nurse Diane, also looks at the wider holistic nature of what is needed for service users and their care. Diane works at Fairburn Mews in Castleford.
