Work out at Work week at Kavanagh Place

Each summer, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy gets people moving with their annual Work Out at Work event.

Lead by Physiotherapist Paul Carreon, the team and service users at Kavanagh Place in Liverpool got involved in the W@W campaign to improve their physical activity levels.

For the past five years, the team has celebrated W@W to raise awareness of the nationwide campaign to highlight the role of physiotherapy in health care services. This year, Kavanagh Place organised a week long programme, focusing on health promotion and simple ways to incorporate exercises into the workplace.

From chair-based activities, dancercise and use of therabands to exercise prescriptions and staff challenges, the week was another enjoyable and successful event with positive feedback from staff, service users and families.

Paul graduated as a physiotherapist in 2003 and has worked at Kavanagh Place since March 2011. He said, “By promoting a culture of activity and exercise, we can improve health and wellbeing, leading to a more productive and positive workplace – which benefits both our staff and our service users. We’re aiming to keep up the good work!”
