This month all of our homes are taking part in an Art Month. Which is designed to help those who are unable to communicate or are less comfortable expressing themselves in conventional ways tell us their stories. It’s based on the idea that everyone has the ability to be creative.
The theme for this month is “My life”; art pieces that reflect, experiences and journeys . So our residents are encouraged to create anything that is connected to their life, family, friend’s favourite things etc.
Art therapy has many benefits for residents and is a great activity that everyone in the home can be involved. Art doesn’t just mean drawing and painting, our homes will be decorating cakes, gardening and crafting throughout October.
The homes will be combining their art month activities with therapeutic sensory activities, e.g sculpting with clay and building models that can be put in the sensory rooms to help the residents.
Keep posted for some of the amazing artwork from our residents.
