Thames House resident poem

Residents at Thames House have been using poetry to express their feelings about their various care needs, as part of an activity.

Here is the poem they wrote for us:

This is me……….

I sit alone on a grassy verge

Never to be seen

Never to be heard

Thoughts of fun drift away

Can I tackle another day

Everyday is the same as before

I dreamed the dream of going

Through the door

Into a life I’ve never seen before

Losing natural abilities is very hard for me

It’s very difficult for others to see

I wish for people to talk to me

And see what person I want to be

I want them to see me and not the chair

I don’t want them to stop and stare

So alone I sit on a grassy verge

Never to be seen, never to be heard
