Making a difference awards… in more than one way!

In November 2014 we held our first ever “Making A Difference” awards ceremony. At these awards the overall winners for the 6 categories were awarded £500.   The winner for the Achievement award was Kerry Lawrence from Havenmere (Immingham). Here is why Kerry was chosen to win this award… “Prior to Kerry coming to Havenmere she had worked as a paper girl in Immingham and taken a job cleaning at the local pub straight from college. She was quiet and shy, but instantly showed interest and empathy. As time went on and Kerry’s confidence grew it became clear that she was special, she carried out her work with enthusiasm, volunteered for anything that would help the people in her care and undertook any training that was available.

She is now team leader on her unit, she carried out all tasks with quiet dignity and professionalism. One day a week Kerry works with the physio as an assistant and her achievements, patience and sheer grit shine, people who come into the home unable to mobilise are now walking and Kerry’s enthusiasm and support have helped others to achieve through her achievement.”

Around the same time as the awards Kerry Lawrence found out she was pregnant and so was very happy to find out she had won £500.  Since the awards Kerry has spent her £500 creating a really lovely nursery, by bargain hunting and shopping around she managed to buy everything in the picture below.

Everyone at Havenmere would like to wish Kerry lots of luck and happiness and cant wait to see her once back from Maternity Leave.
