Mental Health Awareness Week, May 13th – 19th, 2013: Physical activity and wellbeing
“The aim of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is to change the way we view physical activity in the UK: to shift physical activity from a behaviour which we do because we ‘have to’, ‘should do’ or ‘ought to do’ for our health, to something which we do because we personally value its positive benefits to our wellbeing.”
(Mental Health Foundation)
In order to promote this ethos Kavanagh Place decided to collaborate with Liverpool Community Health for Public health, and open a wellness clinic on 15th May. Emphasising the importance of Physical Activity in conjunction with the physiotherapy campaign “ Move for health 2013”. Along with well being and mental health sessions being provided by our own trained staff.
The week was a huge success and everybody benefited from the events they took part in… including Richard King (Chief Executive of Exemplar) and Anne Filson (Regional Manger), who both joined in the ‘Walk beating the blues’.
