Willowbeck host the latest Service User Council meeting
1 April 2019

Exemplar Health Care’s Service User Council have met to discuss new projects, initiatives and latest developments on behalf of the people who live in our 26 homes across Yorkshire and Humber, the North West, and the Midlands.
Residents from homes including Thames House, Ravensdale and Longley Park View, met at our specialist nursing home Willowbeck, in Sheffield to discuss new ideas and chat about improvements to life in their homes.
The meeting saw council members discuss buying an accessible holiday home, for residents to use for overnight trips away and updates around the launch of a new app, designed just residents to share ideas, news, and photos with each other. The app is currently in development and will, after a trial period, be launched later this year.
The council members also took on board new initiatives, including introducing a service user ambassador to work with the quality team to complete daily walk-round checks, as part of Exemplar Health Care’s commitment to quality and monitoring, alongside the Home Manager in every service. The ambassador will report on how the home is doing from their perspective.
Via a competition, the council recently named Exemplar Health Care’s new Hull home, St Andrew’s Court, and to help celebrate their involvement in the new service, council members are meeting next week to discuss the interior decoration for the new service, and plans for the garden and community engagement. Development Projects Manager, Karen Stanley, and Development Assistant Jade Turner attended the meeting and showcased an interiors mood board, to help spark some ideas ahead of choosing the final designs next week.
Sophia Feurtado said: “The meeting was very useful, and we are working together on a lot of different projects and initiatives to help further improve the lives of the people who live in our homes.
“I am delighted that the council is part of the developments process for St Andrew’s Court and it was an honour to have been involved in the naming process for the new home.
“The Service User Council is really embedded in Exemplar Health Care, and it is fantastic to see developments being made and our council members really helping to make a difference in our residents’ lives.
“The app will be available this year, after a full development and trial process, which will be a fantastic addition and something I am pleased to be working with the council members with.”
The Service User Council meetings are an integral part of Exemplar Health Care and add to our commitment to the high-quality, person-centered care we pride ourselves in.
