Exemplar Health Care starts work on new complex needs care home in South Elmsall, Pontefract

Exemplar Health Care has begun the build of a new complex needs care home in South Elmsall, that’ll provide specialist nursing care for adults living with a range of complex and high acuity needs.

Exemplar Health Care’s new ‘Bennett Court’ care home is receiving a £5 million investment, which will provide specialist nursing care for 30 residents and will generate over 150 new jobs for those in the surrounding Pontefract area.

Once completed, Bennett Court’s 30 large bedrooms - each with an en-suite wet room - will provide ground floor living for adults living with dementia, acquired brain injury, complex mental health conditions and physical disabilities.

The home will be surrounded by an easy-access sensory garden and include a communal hub, living and dining spaces for residents and their friends and family to socialise.

The £5 million refurbishment started last month by construction firm, Walter Thompson, the contractor is also building Wykewood, our latest care home in Bradford, which is set to open summer 2021.

We’ve worked closely with the Clinical Commissioning Groups and local authorities and are proud to bring this one-of-a-kind facility to South Elmsall, to enable local people who have had an accident, or are living with complex needs, to live close to home, regain their independence and everyday living skills, and move back into their homes in the community.

It has always been our policy to build our homes in the heart of local communities so that people can remain close to their loved ones whilst receiving the specialist care that they need and deserve.

Across our established 32 homes in England, we’ve seen lots of positive examples of partnerships with local communities, and we’re looking forward to doing the same with Bennett Court.”

Stable and secure jobs for local residents

Bennett Court will create over 150 stable, secure, full-time and part-time jobs for local residents.

The home will begin recruiting autumn 2021 for Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Administrators, Kitchen and Domestic Team members, and other support staff.
