Exemplar Health Care residents and colleagues receive the COVID-19 vaccine

2021 has got off to a positive start for many of Exemplar Health Care’s colleagues and residents, who have received the first dose of the life-saving COVID-19 vaccine.

Many of Exemplar Health Care’s colleagues and residents were among the first in the country to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Older adults and people living in care homes, and health and social care key workers, have long been at the top of the priority list for the vaccine.

Exemplar Health Care is a leading provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with complex and high acuity needs.

Across our 32 care homes in England, we’re working closely with local health organisations to ensure that our care home residents and colleagues receive the vaccine as soon as possible.

Speaking to our 3200-strong workforce, John Whitehead, Exemplar Health Care’s CEO, shared:  

“I strongly believe that the vaccine is the beginning of the end for COVID-19, and hope that it will end its impact on Exemplar Health Care, and the wider health and social care sector, very soon.

“Having been on the ‘front line’ all year, looking after our residents despite the extreme challenges we’ve faced, it is wonderful that you have all been put at the front of the queue now, to get protection fast (91% immunity after the first dose!).

“A number of our colleagues have already had the first vaccine, as our homes get the call up from the NHS. I expect that everyone will have had their first vaccine early in the New Year, and shortly after that, we should all be protected from Coronavirus (COVID-19). How amazing will that be? To be able to reduce the risk to ourselves and our beloved residents, families and friends.”
