Church Walk resident Chris enjoys work placement with Rose Interiors

As part of Exemplar Health Care’s commitment to providing person-centred care for our residents, we ensure that people who work with us, including external contractors, give back to the people who live in our homes.

One resident Chris, who lives at our Rochdale home Church Walk, showed a special interest in the work of the company’s building contractors, Rose Interiors, and thanks to their commitment to giving back to our residents Chris was able to feel part of the construction team.

Chris became Rose Interiors self-appointed ‘Health and Safety Manager’ and his new role meant he felt part of the team, had a say in the building works and interior improvements and ensured everyone on site was safe at all times – he was even given his own protective wear including a high vis jacket.

As well as a passion for construction and interior design, Chris loves Rugby League and after talking about the sport with his new colleagues, one of the workers gave him his very own Hull rugby shirt.

Chris felt so comfortable with the team, he even joined the Rose Interiors team on their lunch breaks at the local chip shop!

Phil Garland, Director of Rose Interiors, said: “During our time working at Church Walk, Chris showed a lot of interest in the improvement work we were doing around the home. When he gave himself a new job with us, we made sure he was involved. He made sure we were doing everything right and to his standards!”

Giving back

Rose Interiors are part of the Considerate Constructors Scheme – a non-profit making, independent organisation that promotes positive work with the local community they work in – adding to their commitment to ensure all workers on Exemplar Health Care sites give back to our residents.

Phil added: “When we work at Exemplar Health Care sites we are always considerate of all residents and ensure that our work causes as little disruption as possible.

“We always try to go the extra mile for residents – just like we did with Chris. I hope he likes his new Hull City Rugby shirt!”

Church Walk in Rochdale is one of Exemplar Health Care’s 26 specialist care homes from across the Yorkshire and Humber, North West, East Midlands and West Midlands regions. Church Walk specialises in providing specialist care in neuro-disability, brain injury and stroke and mental health conditions.
