When others gave up, Hillside Court said yes

Years of setbacks

Before my mum moved to Hillside Court, we’d been through years of failed placements, hospital admissions, and disappointment.

Because of her complex needs, she was often misunderstood and struggled to get the support she needed.

Every time one placement broke down, we found ourselves back at square one, trying to work out what to do next.

"As her daughter, it was exhausting. I was constantly worried about her safety, wellbeing, and future, and I often felt like we were running out of options."

Finding Hillside Court

After another placement failed, I decided to widen the search beyond our local area.

That’s when we came across Hillside Court.

From our first visit, something felt different. The team took the time to get to know Mum as a person, not just a list of diagnoses or behaviours. They wanted to understand her history, personality, preferences, and what she needed to be happy and settled.

Most importantly, they were willing to give her a chance.

"They were willing to try when others had given up."

A place where Mum could finally settle

Since moving to Hillside Court, Mum has settled in ways I never thought possible.

She has structure and routine in her day, enjoys spending time with others, and gets involved in activities she enjoys.

Whether it’s trips out, music, pamper sessions, or simply time spent socialising, she’s part of a community.

The team understand her. They notice when things don’t seem right, respond quickly, and support her before situations escalate.

"For the first time in a long time, I felt like someone else understood what Mum needed."

The impact on our family

The change hasn’t just been positive for Mum – it’s changed my life too.

For years, I carried the responsibility of worrying about whether she was safe, whether the placement would work, and what might happen next.

Now, I know she’s somewhere she’s understood, supported, and cared for.

The team communicate openly with me, involve me in discussions, and make me feel like part of the wider family.

"The team at Hillside Court are warm and genuinely caring. They communicate openly, deal with issues confidently, and have lifted an enormous burden from my shoulders."

Looking to the future

Today, I have something I didn’t have before – peace of mind.

I know Mum is receiving the care and support she needs, from people who genuinely care about her and want her to succeed.

Looking back, finding Hillside Court was one of the best things that could have happened to both of us.

"For the first time, I feel relief, stability, and hope again. I thank the gods that she's here."
