James, a resident at our specialist care home in Sheffield, Willowbeck, has enjoyed a surprise visit from Sheffield Eagles stars Mark Aston and team captain Matt James, thanks to the hard work and commitment of the home’s housekeeper Jayne Powell.

The visit was organised after James’ mum spoke to the Willowbeck team about his love for Rugby and housekeeper Jayne, who is also passionate about the sport, organised the special meet and greet.

Jayne contacted the club to organise some match tickets and not only did they agree to giving away tickets, they offered to do a presentation for James.

The Eagles stars surprised James at the home and not only handed over game tickets but also presented a fully signed shirt by the whole team and a matchday programme.

After taking their time to meet and greet residents and team members at Willowbeck, the pair also invited more people down to a game for everyone to enjoy.

Simone Greatrex, Home Manager at Willowbeck, said: “The visit was incredible, and one I know that James won’t forget. To see his face when Mark and James walked in was amazing.

“I can’t thank Jayne enough for her hard work in organising the visit – she really has gone above and beyond for James, and it has all been worth it.”

Jayne said: “I am a massive rugby fan and when I found out James was too I wanted to do something special for him. I was over the moon when I found out when Mark said that they could organise a presentation. The visit was incredible and I am so pleased it could be made possible.”
