Ribble View

We are delighted to announce that our new Preston care home will be called Ribble View following a competition with Fishwick Primary School.

The result of our inaugural naming collaboration with a primary school, the home’s name plays homage to its nearby river, the River Ribble. The pupils – aged between 9 and 11 – were provided with some brief guidelines for naming the care home, and with the support of teacher Lucy Wheeler, 25 brilliant suggestions were put forward to our judging panel.

The winning name, Ribble View, was suggested by Year 6 pupil Kian who was awarded with a Samsung Galaxy tablet along with an invitation to the official opening of the home in Autumn 2019. The judging panel chose Kian’s entry because of its relevance to the local natural area and by naming the home after the local river, it reinforces the connection with local communities.

The pupils’ creativity also led to us unexpectedly choosing Year 5 pupil Chloe’s suggestion of ‘The Little Flower Garden’ as the name for the home’s garden. Chloe was awarded with a £50 Amazon voucher along with an invitation to join Kian at the home’s official opening.

Work recently started on the Ribble View site on Church Avenue which will provide high-quality specialist care for up to 30 adults who live with complex nursing needs. The home will also provide a dozens of jobs for local people, with recruitment details expected to be released soon.

Due to open to residents in November 2019, Ribble View will be the latest in a series of new homes we are opening in 2019.

Further information about the home is available here and details of jobs will be posted on our Current Vacancies page.
